A small forge with a large obsession.

Founded in 1998 in the old forge at Rye Harbour, we are a studio of twelve — designers, structural engineers and metalsmiths — devoted to one craft: the architectural staircase.
We work exclusively in steel — mild, stainless, weathered and blackened — because no other material offers the same combination of tensile strength, thermal formability and lifetime durability. Every piece leaves our atelier signed, dated and guaranteed for 25 years.
Our clients include RIBA-chartered architects, interior designers, heritage developers and private homeowners from Cornwall to the Highlands. We collaborate from first sketch through site installation, and we will not subcontract the work that matters.

The Workshop · Rye Harbour
Engineered first
Every staircase is structurally calculated in-house before fabrication begins. No assumptions, no shortcuts.
Made by hand
Stringers are rolled on our 1956 Davy section bender. Balustrades are forged and TIG-welded on the bench. Nothing is CNC-only.
Installed by us
The same team that built your staircase fits it on site. A single point of accountability from sketch to handover.
